Empowering Community Health: A Successful Collaboration with Te Wāhi Āwhina and Tū Ora
Health and prevention screenings are incredibly important for supporting the most vulnerable in our community.
Last month, we had the privilege of hosting the teams from Te Wāhi Āwhina and Tū Ora for an impactful afternoon focused on diabetes screening and health checks for our local community. It was a fantastic event that highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and regular monitoring, especially for our most vulnerable community members. We also hosted a BBQ, providing fresh kai to all who visited us, making the day even more welcoming.
A huge thank you to our friends at Te Wāhi Āwhina, Tū Ora, and our dedicated team at Te Pokapū Hapori for generously dedicating their time and resources to make the afternoon a success. It was truly inspiring to see the community come together, with many taking advantage of the health screenings and receiving personalised insights on how to better manage their health. It was a busy, yet incredibly rewarding afternoon.
This event also showcased the power of collaboration, with our three organisations uniting to create a significant shared impact. It was inspiring to witness such efficient and compassionate teamwork in action, highlighting the profound effect of collaborative mahi in creating meaningful, positive change for the people we serve.
We look forward to continuing these partnerships and future initiatives that prioritise the needs of our community, while creating new opportunities—through collaborative mahi, the sky’s the limit!

As Te Wāhi Āwhina prepares to close its doors later this month, we extend our heartfelt thanks to their amazing team for over three years of dedicated mahi and collaboration.
