Hi my name is Joanne Thomas and I am the Centre Manager at Trentham Afterschool care and Holiday programme. I have worked at the Y for 9 years. Previously I was a teacher aide at St Anthony’s school for 16 years working with children with learning difficulties and Autism. I also worked at East care after 3 for 5 years.

I have 4 adult children and 9 grandchildren so I heaps of experience with kids! I pride myself in running a happy and safe environment for the children and have great relationships with our families, I see my job as making life easier for parents where ever possible.

At The Y Trentham, we provide a safe and nurturing environment that follows the Ys values of Healthy Living, Social Responsibility, Developing Youth and Family. We have children attending from 5 year olds to 13 year olds. We all enjoy fitness and provide a wide range of this from ‘Jump Jam’ to group games. We promote a healthy eating programme providing lots of fresh fruit and a balanced afternoon tea.

There is a homework space with one of our leaders to help children to complete their homework. There is a weekly theme and we provide activities on a daily basis. Trentham is a fun place to come and play with our vast range of board games and our child friendly spaces which include Lego, barbies, air hockey and lots more. If it’s relaxation that is required just relax in our quiet corner.  Our staff are fully trained in keeping children safe, happy and most of all just having fun.
