What Is #CHALKITUP all about?

To support Neighbours Aotearoa’s initiative fostering community connection, we’re encouraging tamariki to get out of the house and create chalk art around the neighbourhood!

Thanks to support from Wellington City Council and Upper Hutt City Council, we have supplied boxes of chalk to tamariki in our communities, all with the goal of getting tamariki out of the house and turning our streets into neighbourhood play spaces; along with whānau, parents, caregivers and neighbours.

Here’s how you and your whānau can take part…

Along with a parent or guardian: Simply grab some chalk, head out to the street and using the footpath as your canvas, start your chalk masterpiece! Make it a play event: invite your friends, whānau and neighbours to join the cause – all they need is a piece of chalk!

Share your fun with us online using #CHALKITUP on Instagram or Facebook. Prizes will be given for the most creative entries using the hashtag so don’t forget to share online!
